Better Combat AI, Increased Survival Difficulty Damage, Better Fall Damage, Increased Stealth Detect Distance, Longer Stealth Search Time, Unbroken Stealth Light Level, Increased Walk Speed (Global), Decreased Reload Speed (Global), Reduced Compass Radar Detection, Molotov Cocktails burn ppl to death instead of exploding ppl to death
From the first Arbitration (comment) review by Maleficus04:
I’ve been looking forward to something like this for a while. So far, it’s AMAZING. I got noticed while walking by some enemies and it actually caught me off guard because I was so used to how blind they used to be. With the damage and AI tweaks, the gunfights feel like gunfights and not “stand out in the open and gunning down the idiots.” And the molotovs…. good lord THE MOLOTOVS! They’re soooo much better now. There’s actually a reason to use them even after you buy frags now.
Releases in Pieces (more to come when I’m not out of town):
Molotov Overhaul – KILL IT WITH FIRE
Already part of this mod, obviously, but they’re (just the one for now, actually) there in pieces if you want.
See videos below for in-depth look at features.
Installation
1. Install with a mod manager
2a. Load your game. Save the game. Quit to main menu. Load the game. Save the game. 2b. Or start a new game
2a is required because this modifies a racial ability, and racial abilities require a save and reload to initialize correctly. If you fail to do 2a you will not see reduced reload speed or increased walk speed until your next save/reload. It is not the end of the world.
WARNING: Do not install this, save, then uninstall this and continue playing the save you made with this installed. NPCs will still have slower reloading and faster walking. However, it is not the end of the world.
DIRE WARNING: Do not install this, save, uninstall this, load, save, reinstall this, save, load, and continue playing the last save you made. NPCs will have 2x slower reloading and 2x faster walking. It is the end of the world.
Until I have access to make scripts these warnings will have to do.
Anyone at all is welcome to review this mod. I will gladly post your review on this page.
Features
Made AI (including companions) attack things all the time instead of waiting to be shot half the time (wildlife, power armor, and some special npcs left untouched) Made ranged AI focus on flanking (companions focus on dueling to protect you) Ranged AI will flank, circle, and fall back more when in close range. I should note that I have witnessed falling back, but I can’t vouch for the efficacy of adjusting the close range flanking and circling. Things “seem” to be better with these adjusted. Falling back is important as it keeps them from advancing to the point of idiotic suicidal. Increased odds of strafing for ranged AI
Increased damage to player (*survival difficulty only)
Increased damage to npcs (*survival difficulty only) Molotov cocktails no longer kill with exploding, they kill with fire (not explicit in video).
Reduced fall damage
Greatly increased fall leg damage
Increased stealth detection range x2
Increased outdoors stealth detection range x4
Increased Hostile/Alert/Lost detection times
Reduced indoors light bonus to match outdoors – more detectable
Decreased base compass detection range – perception bonus still the same (if you can’t find an enemy, eat some mentats, etc.)
Increased walking (and player overburdened) speed by 25% for all NPCs as well as the player
Decreased reloading speed by 30% for all NPCs as well as the player
I was a little intoxicated when I wrote the following description:
So, I says to myself, I says, “Hey, why haven’t I died yet? I’m drunk, and doing stupid things.”
But I hadn’t died yet. At some point I was fucking around and I managed to get offed by someone and I was underwhelmed. That should have happened 20 minutes into the game. I switched to survival difficulty. Apparently survival meant EVERYBODY SURVIVED. It was hard as fuck for anyone to die. I died a little easier than normal, but I basically had to try for it.
So I made some .bat mod that would increase damage done. It wasn’t very complex. I would go on to reduce resistances some, but it scaled like a pregnant yak.
Then, I says to myself, I says, “Hey, why am I reloading the gun like I’m Christian Bale in Equilibrium, if Christian Bale had been hooked on amphetamines in Equilibrium?”
So I nerfed the player (actor value) reload speed in my stupid .bat mod. But then NPCs reloaded faster than I did. They were now Christian Bale in Equilibrium. I was one of those slow motherfuckers he shot in the face. And it was still a .bat file.
Then, I says to myself, I says, “Hey, did I just fucking die jumping 2 and 1/2 floors, landing on my feet? Some motherfucker just shot me 5 times in the chest and I died from a sprained ankle?”
So I used my stupid .bat file to remove some damage from falls. Your legs didn’t get hurt, though.
Then I’m at the beach. I live next to some of the best beaches in the world (PCB), and I don’t really like the beach, but I got nagged into going to the beach, and I mostly played football (‘merican) with my son but I spent a little bit on my phone looking for my mod. I looked up “realistic damage.”
Two other motherfuckers had done my mod (the damage part) 2 days before, as an .esp file.
So, I says to myself, I says, “How the fuck are people making .esp mods already? And why am I too stupid to google this shit properly?”
That got me fired up. I’m Natsu, and there’s a fire in my belly.
So I figured out some .esp goodness.
I figured out how to do the weapon damage – you get shot 5 times in the chest, you’re fucked. You shoot some noob raider a few times in the chest, or some boss 5 times in the chest, they’re fucked. Shit no longer scaled poorly. I went messing around with race abilities (mods are still pretty limited in what they can do) and nerfed reloading for EVERYBODY. Now everyone was some dumb motherfucker that got shot in the face by Christian Bale in Equilibrium.
I figured out how to do the fall damage. You fall from 3 floors or more, your legs are HURT. You start to die at 4 floors or more, but mostly you just break your legs. That’s how it works IRL, fall on your legs and you’re prolly not dead, but your legs are hurt all around – and the game mostly makes you fall on your legs, especially since most of your “falls” are intentional jumps from gunfire – you won’t land on your head, but yeah, your legs fucking take it in the… legs.
So, I play the game with my new stuffs.
And, I says to myself, I says, “Damage is increased for everyone, but I can sneak around and snipe these motherfuckers.”
And, I says to myself, I says, “Damage is increased for everyone, but these motherfuckers won’t fire at me but maybe half as much as they should. Why are they just fucking standing in front of me shooting once every three seconds? What the hell are they dodging? Not my bullets. They’re twitching like Christian Bale in Equilibrium on too many amphetamines.”
Also, and this is almost beside the point, I says to myself, I says, “Why am I so goddamn slow at walking? Hell, why is EVERYONE basically ambling like they ain’t got shit to do? Have you seen this fucking place!? It’s dirty, and everything is in shambles, and you’re walking like you ain’t got shit to do.”
I want to release my awesome mod that will grant me PC Gamer Elvis fame, but my awesome mod is flawed because the game is flawed. TIME TO FIX!
Download running man drakorindo. Feel free to post anything relevant and ask questions.
First I fixed the walking. Everyone walks (25%) faster, at least everyone that matters (everyone with legendary item ability, not children or whatever). Most important folks walk like they’re walking to get somewhere. You too. You got too much shit? Well you can’t run from badguys, but you can haul that shit across the map like you’re hauling shit at least. You don’t need more carryweight, you just need patience, and the good sense to drop your extra 12 sawed-off shotguns when some mutant bear decides to come after you. And you don’t need Dalai Lama patience, just normal “I’m carrying extra shit to my house” patience.
So I start playing with combat behaviors. It’s not messing with code, ’cause I can’t, just how the AI uses code. And the code is actually pretty decent! But unfortunately this game shares much of its code with medieval games like Skyrim. In those games, passive defending is a good idea. Swordplay, yo. But in this game, you have a gun and someone else has a gun. How do you defend? BY SHOOTING YOUR FUCKING GUN. And I start messing with behaviors and lo and behold telling people to be 100% attack does not tell them NOT to seek cover. It doesn’t tell them NOT to strafe. It doesn’t tell them NOT to flank. It tells them to shoot at you in 100% of the situations in which shooting at a person is a logical decision when you want them to have bullet holes in them rather than you have bullet holes in you.
Telling people to be 100% defense does not tell them to seek cover. It does not tell them to strafe. It does not tell them to flank. It tells them to wait on you to shoot them. STUPIDITY. A basic child’s understanding of ballistics isn’t rocket science – defending with a gun involves shooting the gun. So I FIXES IT. And I add flanking flags instead of dueling flags (to ranged ppl, not to melee), and I tell them to strafe like they’ve at least played counterstrike once, and I make it to where they don’t stop shooting just because they’re in a large group… that’s the time to unload your clip, not let some other motherfucker have his turn while you wait for yours! Concentrated fire, ppl.
Then there’s still stealth. OMFG stealth. First of all, it is impossible to be detected by people at any halfway decent distance, especially outside. You can have a goddamn pipboy-light-bathed shindig 100 yards from a dude, and so long as you’re in “stealth mode” he can’t even begin to see you. And light! Granted, darkness is lamplight at this point without a graphics overhaul, it’s hard to know how much light you’ve got going on, but inside they have light decreased by 25. You can be in a lit hallway, crouched down, 3 feet from a guy, and he can’t see you. And even if you kill him, his buddies will search for like 20 seconds maybe, then go back to not remembering they had this friend WHO JUST GOT SHOT IN THE FUCKING HEAD right next to them. So I FIXES IT. As much as I can. Sometimes you will still think “I’m totally in the open here.” But you type ‘player.getlightlevel’ without the single quotes in console and you’ve got like 10ish or less light level; they aren’t supposed to see you in this light that the game is passing off as “pitch black.” Lower your gamma, I guess? And if they know you’re there now, welcome to sneaking around for a while waiting for them to forget. It’s gonna be at least over a minute if not more. Oh and p.s., sneaking perks haven’t been adjusted, but with the new game settings they are actually even more important and powerful. So I didn’t fuck up your ninja assassin build! You’re welcome, on accident.
So there it is. I ain’t done, but I’m satisfied this is better than the half-fucked gameplay you’re used to. Enjoy dying, but more importantly, enjoy your well-earned killing.
Must Try It
Even if you didn't jump on the Fallout 4 VR hype train, there's still a lot of life left in this open-world apocalyptic RPG for the average player, and even more so if you dive into the world of modding.
One area where mods still haven't made as big of inroads as they have with many other elements from the game is in the faction system. Although there are a whole lot of minor factions like the Children Of Atom, Fallout 4 essentially featured four main groups that actually had a major impact on quest options and the story ending: the Brotherhood Of Steel, Minutemen, Institute, and Railroad.
Here we're rounding up 10 of the best mods that overhaul existing factions, or in a few cases, even add in entirely new ones!
Due to the restrictions on file sizes and outside assets on the PS4, many of these are only available for PC or Xbox One. When individual faction mods can be found on consoles, we'll include extra links on each slide so you aren't left behind.
Fallout UIF Mod
A truly ambitious mod showcasing the great lengths this amazing community will go to in order to make Fallout an even bigger experience, this mod adds in a full fifth faction called The Union of Independent Federations.
While the voice acting is frequently on the lower end, the fact that hours of new voice acting was added at all is particularly notable, as are the 20 or so hours of extra content added with new storylines, characters, and faction options.
Of particular interest is the focus on being a bad guy and taking the evil route while working with this faction, which the base Fallout 4 typically shied away from much more often than did its superior predecessors.
Faction Maintenance Mod
A deadly tool in the hands of the uninitiated, this incredibly powerful mod gives you total control over the opinion that just about every single character or entity in the game has towards the Sole Survivor.
Going way beyond just the primary in-game factions, the Faction Maintenance Mod lets you tweak settings on pretty much anyone, from super mutants to a companion you've ticked off. It even includes a bunch of extras from various other faction mods so you can tweak non-canon characters.
Be careful when playing with those settings, though, as it can be easy to accidentally nerf the whole game or shut down entire quest lines when changing states on various characters, and there is a learning curve involved here.
Star Wars Faction Overhaul ModsSynth Stormtroopers / Imperial InstituteSeparatist Patrols Of The Commonwealth
Rather than giving you whole new factions, these two Star Wars-themed overhauls change existing characters to place the Commonwealth in a galaxy far, far away.
The first one modifies the Institute characters heavily, so synths and Institute scientists wear different varieties of storm trooper armor or various Imperial robes from the movie series. If you go hostile inside the Institute headquarters, get ready for a tense laser blaster battle (and yeah, they have better aim than in the flicks).
The second mod goes back to the much-maligned Phantom Menace to create hordes of Trade Federation droids that patrol around the Commonwealth at random spawns and replace many of the Institute synths as well.
True Overboss Mod (Nuka World Raiders)
This one expands the Nuka World raiders in ways it feels like the DLC should have already included, since you are supposed to be the head honcho ordering around all the raider factions.
With the mod installed, you can pull up the Pip-Boy to view information on your gang, summon raiders to fight for you, and give orders like picking up stim packs or going off searching for Nuka Cola recipe books (if you haven't used our guide yet to find them all).
Far West Minutemen Mod
Well howdy, pardner! Saddle on up with this mod and turn the Minutemen into Stetson-wearin', rope-tyin' cow pokes with a whole lot more personality than they had before!
All of the basic Minutemen troops get overhauls, including new names and custom outfits. This one requires a few other clothing mods to work properly, so make sure to follow the instructions carefully, or you might end up with a buggy, unfinished experience.
We Are The Minutemen Mod
The thinking behind supporting the Minutemen in Fallout 4 is that having more connected settlements will result in a safer, more prosperous Commonwealth. But honestly, all it really does is tick off the player, with Preston Garvey constantly giving you new pointless quests to protect a settlement that can't protect itself.
Fallout 4 Overhaul 2019
This mod totally overhauls the Minutemen, adding in more patrols around settlements, changing up how often settlement quests appear, adding Minutemen bandannas to roving dogs, and introducing a host of other tweaks to make the faction a more visible part of the game.
Bounties For You Mod
Another mod that adds in a distinct new faction, this one is focused entirely on bounty hunting -- but you aren't always the hunter! While you can collect bounties for the faction, a new element is added to the game where bounties will be issued against the Sole Survivor if you break laws.
You might be minding your own business trying to solve problems in Diamond City or break into the Institute when a gang of hostile bounty hunters appears, and they'll be tailored to your character's weaknesses.
After giving you a good thumping, they'll make off with a portion of your caps, so you better stay on the straight and narrow! The mod also comes with some new voice acting and unique faction equipment.
Enclave Resurgent Mod
After playing such a big role in the breakout Fallout 3, many players were disappointed in how Bethesda's next main entry seemed to forget about these big baddies.
This mod rectifies that oversight, bringing the Enclave to the Commonwealth as a faction that can be joined, adding in new quests and voice-overs, and injecting a bunch of Enclave fluff like a radio station and Enclave-themed gear.
John Henry Eden may be dead, but the Enclave will live on for America!
Children Of Atom Overhaul Mod
These nuclear radiation-worshiping zealots have often felt like they could play a bigger role in the Falloutverse and that the main character should have more opportunity to actually work with them.
This overhaul melds together several mods dealing with the Children Of Atom, adding in new settlements that recruit Children as settlers and including some glowing power armor for a proper radiation feel.
Faction Settlement Mod
This is such a simple modification, but it can completely change the feel of the game if you find the Sole Survivor strongly allying with one of the big factions.
The mod gives you a faction flag, which you can plant at any given settlement. Once there, the settlement will begin recruiting members of that faction as new settlers instead of getting random civilians. Now your towns and cities can be filled to the brim with the Brotherhood of Steel or Railroad members!
What did you think of these 10 Fallout 4 faction mods, and what mods would you recommend we try out that tweak the faction systems? Let us know in the comments below!
There are tens of thousands more mods out there, ready and waiting to spice up your game. Whether you want to turn Fallout into a zombie-themed horror game, add in loads of new radio stations, or even increase the graphics beyond their ultra capabilities, there are countless other mods out there to make this post-apocalyptic wasteland exactly the experience you crave.
Here's some more of the best you should be trying out:
Published Jan. 2nd 2018
It may be full of flesh-eating ghouls and radioactive monsters, but you wouldn’t describe Fallout 4 as a horror game. The “Pilgrim – Dread the Commonwealth” mod seeks to change that, turning the Commonwealth into a wasteland full of spooks and scares.
Here are some more top-quality Fallout 4 mods.
The crux of this mod is to make Fallout 4 look like a horror movie, complete with film grain, adjustable letterboxing and a special camera emulation which makes the world look like it is being captured by a handheld digital camera. There is also a special weather plugin that is designed to work specifically with the Pilgrim ENB. No more sunshine when playing this mod; its weather is designed to put players on edge.
The designers of Pilgrim were influenced mainly by the 2008 horror film The Witch in the creation of this mod, which is set in a creepy version of 17th century New England. They were so inspired that they are planning to replace the canine companion Dogmeat with the evil goat/embodiment of Satan Black Philip. At present, they haven’t managed to import the goat model into the mod, so they have retextured Dogmeat to have jet black fur and glowing eyes. They’ve also adjusted his audio to be “a little less cheerful”.
Along with a unique soundtrack, there is even a dynamic music system that will change based on the current weather, just to heighten the horror. All of Fallout 4’s original music is replaced by Pilgrim’s custom soundtrack, but you can toggle certain aspects on and off to find that perfect mix of scary but enjoyable.
You may experience a slight drop in performance when using Pilgrim, with most rigs dropping five to six fps when running all of its features. There are two special presets of the ENB to help it run on weaker systems, so check those out if your PC isn’t quite up to spec.
If you want to run the mod, head on over to Pilgrim’s page on Nexus Mods. You will have to uninstall any pre-existing weather mods if you want to run Pilgrim successfully. Far Harbour and Nuka-World do not have Pilgrim custom weather yet, but those are planned for a future update.
Thanks PC Gamer.
Fallout 4 overhaul mods
Contents
Get in on the wasteland modding activity, as soon as it came, Fallout 4 lovers were not exactly pleased with the added constraints above and beyond what is found on the Xbox One variant.
Even now, months after mods have been accessible, the amount Of PS4 admissions continues to lag far behind what is on tap over on the other side of this console fence. Regrettably, because of the restrictive nature of what is permitted on games console mods, it is unlikely we’re going to obtain an epic complete conversion as if you’d see on the PC.
The lack of distance and inability to include in enormous new resources Simply will not allow for such significant adjustments to the base game. Do not let this kill your enthusiasm to get PS4 modding entirely though, as there’s still a few overhaul mods that greatly change up the Fallout 4 encounter on the Playstation platform.
During the upcoming few slides we cover a few of the finest of the very best in PS4 Fallout 4 overhaul mods which you need to be looking out instantly. Unified Clothing Overhaul
Your personality look while stomping across the Commonwealth, this is the mod that should unquestionably be downloaded straight away.
The UCO mod totally opens up the clothing chances, Allowing you to craft basically any outfit you can imagine while still possess the benefits of armor. When it’s something that appears from the game everywhere on almost any NPC, you can now equip it as your outfit. Don’t like how your present armor looks but prefer its stats? No issue, with UCO that you can make outdoor clothes invisible, so the defensive attributes stay while the cosmetics are changed to whatever style you want under. Overgrowth Forest Overhaul
Like a far more invasive and complete version of the Simple Green mod (see the next slide), this Overgrowth offering turns many areas of this Commonwealth into a far more verdant forest.
It makes the Full Fallout 4 encounter less dreary and the colour scheme is probably the most frequently sited visual issue with the contemporary Fallout 4 overhaul mods games like this conveniently take care of that concern. Straightforward Seasons – White, Red, Green, and Yellow
A smart Method of getting around some of the constraints on Adding new external resources in Fallout 4 PS4 modding, this series of mods tweaks that the colors of grass, trees, objects, and vegetation to let you alter the Commonwealth to anything season you desire.
While it may not radically change the game in terms of Material or weaponry, it does completely change the sense of the narrative with another season overtaking areas rather than simply having what be that washed out brown/gray colour. From eternal nuclear winter to real, regular old winter. Much more striking is Simple Red, which places the trees afire with autumn leaf colors for a much less monochromatic playthrough. Wacky Weapons Workshop Fallout 4
The lack of outside resources really hampers weapon mods on The PS4, but one forward-thinking player put together something really interesting by simply altering how weapons could be crafted.
Now you can put together just about any combination Possible – including a number that really should not exist, like adding a fatman launcher into a revolver. Who doesn’t want to start nukes in their handgun? The mod also lets you manually add in multiple legendary Results to a wackified weapon, enabling you to craft a few genuinely outrageous firearms and melee weapons without needing to kill legendary monsters and hope you randomly get something good. Scrap That Settlement
Having largely played Fallout 4 total conversion mods on the PC, it didn’t happen To me until viewing this mod which console gamers are still having to deal with Bethesda’s dreadful settlement strategy in its first form.
If You’d like more control on how your settlements seem, This very nifty mod lets you trash almost everything – grass, rocks, bodies, and all sorts of items which weren’t initially scrappable.New versions of this mod have been slated to land shortly that will Permit you to scrap entire creatures and constructions too. Zombie Walkers
The feral ghouls in the Fallout world have always flirted With being zombies, but they never quite go the whole way there. Placing you into an episode of The Walking Dead (or any given classic zombie movie), this overhaul mod carries ghouls and leaves them into a shambling horde of the living dead.
Unfortunately, this PS4 variant is a bit stripped down from A few animations will also be tweaked too for much more of a horror feel. These modified ghoul zombies also come in big herds that you Do not want to get captured in! Hiding beneath a dumpster will not keep you safe here. Outfield Retreat Home
Do not care for the home options in Diamond City or need to have everything at your fingertips in one centralized place?
This RV house not just looks fantastic – finish with Nuka Cola themed knick knacks all round the exterior – but also includes multiple connected crafting locations, storage space for your bobblehead collection, clean water for survival runs, and a mattress offering the nicely rested bonus. Plenty ‘O Exploration
This is an overhaul mod which fans have to Gather every You’d think finally the programmer would get on this with no players having to do it…
The game maps are always huge, with a Lot of areas to Explore, but then you arrive at a specific location and the majority of the halls and buildings can’t be obtained and are just decorative. Whether doors that can not be opened or piles of rubble blocking your way, there is a distinct lack of indoor exploration. Fallout 4’s rendition of the perennially needed fix, Plenty ‘O Exploration, is currently in beta for PS4, but still provides a radically needed service by adding in many new interior sections for a massive increase in the total amount of area actually available to explore. Cheatmaker
Last but not least is Cheatmaker, that overhauls the game By putting everything at your fingertips with no effort required whatsoever! After crawling out of the vault, the Sole survivor may craft anything whatsoever without the materials needed. Want some sweet power armor directly off the beginning? No problem!
There are a whole lot longer Fallout 4 overhaul mod on the market prepared and waiting to be downloaded in relation to the two PS4 overhaul mods we’ve covered here. Check Out More!Comments are closed.
